Tutorial Thursday Holiday Gift Idea # 1 Heartfelt Creations Candle Box

This small rectangle box will hold three tea light candles perfectly for a quick and easy holiday or hostess gift. Here are the directions to make this wonderful little gift.

  1. Cut a piece of cardstock 3 1/2 inches by 12 inches. Score on all four sides at 1 inch. Score on the long side at 5 1/2 inches and 6 1/2 inches.
  2. Fold on score lines and cut up to score lines. Add glue to all six tabs and assemble the box.
  3. Cut out a small candle image from the Heartfelt Creations Festive Holiday paper. Cut out 2 pieces of designer paper 1 inch by 1 1/2 inches, 2 pieces of designer paper at 1 inch by 4 1/2 inches 1 piece of designer paper at 1 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches. Glue papers in place on top and sides of box. Form tape the candle image to the top of the box.
  4. Tie a piece of ribbon around the completed box after placing three candles inside the box.

Instructions: Click here to see the pages in this layered card. Stamp two sets of each of the Festive Holly and Cardinals images using Early Espresso ink onto white cardstock. Die cut and color the images.

Select and cut five 6″ x 6″ images from the Winter’s Eve collection. Glue to the cardstock bases. Select the appropriate size circle die cut and tape in place. Die cut the middle of each of the images.

Adhere the cardstock pages with Winter’s Eve designer paper images with circle, in descending size order onto the card base and on the last panel glue the bordered image with no circle cut out of the middle.

Fussy cut the Christmas blessing message from the Winter’s Eve paper. Die cut from white cardstock the window frame lacy piece. Arrange the die cut pieces on the sides of each of the circle panels. Using foam tape, adhere the window frame lacy piece and message to the bottom right corner of the top panel.

For tips on how to cut intricate dies check out this tutorial.

Instructions: Using white cardstock, cut one piece of cardstock 10″ x 10″, and one piece of cardstock 10 1/8″ x 10 1/8″. Score on all four sides of the cardstock at 2″. Cut a slit on one side of each square in the corners to the score line. Assemble box bottom and box top.

Cut Winter’s Eve Design paper for the box top. One piece of paper for the top of the box 5 7/8″ x 5 7/8″. Cut four pieces of paper for the sizes 1 7/8″ x 6″. Glue Winter’s Eve paper to the top and sides of the box.

Die cut with white cardstock one Snow Kissed tag, one festive holiday die, one window frame decorative die, and four decorative medallion dies. Die cut the tag with the church from the Winter’s Eve collection using the Luggage and tag die. Glue the four decorative medallion dies pieces to the bottom of the box. Glue string of pearls along the bottom, middle and top of the box as illustrated in the picture. Glue pearl swirl to the top of the box.

Stamp one each of the cardinals and holly from the Festive Holly stamp sets, using black ink on white cardstock. Die cut with coordinating dies and shape.

Die cut the church image from the paper collection using Cut Mat Create 2A die. Create the card shadow box per instructions on the video for making the card frame box. Glue the church scene into the back of the card frame. Cut a piece of white card stock 5″ x 5″ and score at 2 1/2″. Cover this piece of cardstock and the shadow box frame frame with paper from the Winter’s Eve collection. On the back of the shadow box form a easel to hold the card frame in the upright position on the top of the box. Glue the easel frame bottom base to the top of the box. Glue the holly and cardinal pieces in place on either side of the card frame. Glue the Festive Holly lace die cut piece to the top of the card frame. Make a bow from ribbon and place on the top of the card frame in the middle of the Festive Holly lace die. Cut out the piece on Earth saying from the Winter’s Eve paper and foram tap to the top of the lacy window frame die cut. Foam tape the lacy die piece and peace on earth piece in from the card frame to hold the scene in an upright position. Glue the tag scene to the white cardstock luggage tag. Place a ribbon at the top of the tag. Form tape at an angle to the top of the box.

Instructions: Christmas Window Box with note cards. Using the Winter’s Eve designer paper, cut two pieces 5 x 5″ for the cover and inside of the cover, 4 pieces of 5 x 2″ tall strips to cover outside of the box, 4 pieces 4 3/4 by 1 7/8″ tall strips to cover the inside sides of the box and 4 3/4 x 4 3/4″ for the inside bottom of the box. Adhere these pieces using dries clear glue to the appropriate places inside and outside of the box.

Die cut the window pieces from white cardstock using the Window Frame dies. Stamp the Foliage & Berries Window Box Fillers stamp set the with Stampin Up Early Espresso ink. Die cut with coordinating die and color six sets of the window fillers using Chameleon pens Grass Green and Crimson Red.

Stamp Girl/Tree image from the Winter’s Eve stamp set with Stampin up Early Expresso ink the tree. Color the images with Chameleon Pencils Numbers 2, 9, 10, 14, 17, 18, 19.

Place and glue completed stamped image down on the top of the box. Assemble and arrange the window pieces including the flower pot on the top of the box. Cut three cards from the Winter’s Eve designer paper for the front of each of the cards. Use three different kinds of ribbon and tie around the side of the box.

Small cards inside box: Cut three pieces of white cardstock 7 1/2 x 4 1/2″. On the 7 1/2″ side score at 3 3/4″ and fold card in half. Cut three pieces of green designer paper 3 1/2 x 4 1/4″ and adhere directly onto card base. Fussy cut three small panels from the Winter’s Eve paper collection. Attach to card base using foam strips. Assemble ribbon bow and glue on the front of each panel.

Inside pop up on cards: Cut three pieces of striped designer paper at 7 1/4 x 4 1/4″. Score and fold in half. Using the instructions provided in the video make a 1″ cut (on the fold) toward the center and another 1″ cut an inch away from first cut. Pop the strip you just cut up and attach designer paper to inside of card base (make sure not to glue your center pop up). Fussy cut 3 tags from paper collection. Adhere one tag on the pop up on inside of card and add a pearl to tag. Repeat this on all three cards.

Instructions: Die cut one gift box with Gift Box and Mini Snowflake Die from Winter’s Eve designer paper. Die cut four tags using Snow Kissed Flakes and Tag Die from Winter’s Eve designer paper and from white cardstock. Die cut using Window Frame Die one window medallion from white cardstock.

Stamp eight Window Box Filler Flowers and leaves with Stampin’ Up Early Espresso ink, diecut with coordinating dies. Color the flowers and leaves using Chameleon pencils numbers 2, 9, 10, 14, 17, 18, 19. Apply Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss White to left or right corners of tags. Set tags aside to dry.

Assemble box, die cut from white cardstock, and glue window medallion on gift box and arrange one set of each of the different flowers and leaves as shown. After the crystal drops have dried tie ribbon on tags and attach one set of flowers and leaves to each tag.

Instructions: Assemble the large six Pocket and Flipfold insert album according to the directions provided on the instructional video. Using the Festive Holly designer paper cut the designer paper 1/4″ by 1/4″ smaller than the measured section piece of the flipfold insert and album cover. Glue the designer paper to each section of the album using Dries Clear glue. Die cut the sleigh bell using HCD1-7147 die and adhere to cover. Add small bells using your favorite glue for a 3D effect. Go to the identified site for the advent calendar devotions and download each day. Print on medium weight copy paper. Cut out each devotion, arrange on pages of the album and glue each devotion in place. The Advent Calendar devotion album can be used each day during advent with family members.
