Heart 2 Heart – Skylark Flip Fold Album

The finished flip fold album measures 6 x 6 x 3/4 inches. The basic construction directions are below. Once you have constructed the album, you are free to decorate it in any style you wish. These basic instructions are adopted from a post December 18, 2012 at http://g45papers.typepad.com/graphic45/2012/12/dec-18-gloria-nicole-arlene.html

Basic Instructions

  1. Cut (1) 6 x 12 piece of cardstock. Score at 2 1/4, 3, 9, and 9 3/4 inches.
  2. Cut (4) 6 x 6 pieces of cardstock.
  3. Attach 2 pieces of 6 x 6 cardstock to the 2 1/4 inch left flap at the 2 1/4 inch fold, sandwiching the flap between the cardstock.  Repeat the process by attaching the other 2 pieces of 6 x 6 cardstock to the 2 1/4 inch right flap.
  4. You will end up with a base page that is 6 inches tall and 19 1/2 inches wide. Score again at 6 and 6 3/4 inches from each end. This is your Album Base. Set this aside.

Gloria-3L-Blog-Hop-1

  1. Cut (3) pieces of cardstock to 6 x 12 inches. Score each piece at 3 and 9 inches. Attach the three pieces of cardstock together by the 3 x 6 inch flaps to form a 6 x 24 inch section that has a center section with “doors.”
  2. Fold the two 3-inch center flaps towards the center.

Gloria-3L-Blog-Hop-2

  1. Fold the 3-inch right flap in and fold the 6-inch right panel towards the center.
  2. Fold the 3-inch left flap in and fold the 6-inch left panel towards the center. Now you have the Album Core. Once it is folded, it will measure 6 x 6 inches.
  3. Attach the Album Core to the inside 6×6 center panel of your Album Base, by attaching adhesive to the back of the Album Core and placing it onto the center of the Album Base.
  4. Fold the right panel to the center.
  5. Fold the left cover panel to the center.
  6. You may choose to ink all edges and folds.
  7. Now you are ready to decorate!

This is a picture heavy blog entry as I have included each page of the mini album. What do you think of the project?

Heart 2 Heart Challenges – Triple Play

This week at Heart 2 Heart Challenge it is triple play. I made a card with three panels, three butterflies and three sayings. How do you like the butterflies floating in air? I created that effect by using a narrow stripe of acetate to stick the butter flies in place. Thank you for stopping by. It is greatly appreciated.DSC02527 DSC02528

Heart 2 Heart – Flourishes

This time for the Heart 2 Heart Flourishes challenge I am  using the new CTMH Ivy Lane paper pack  and the use of some fancy card folds. This sketch was easy to incorporate into the center step card pattern. I have included a video on how to create this type of card and a link to written directions.DSC02442

The written directions for this card can be located at http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/centerstepcard/

What do you think of the card? Are the directions for making this type of card helpful? Would you like to see more instructional videos and written instructions on how to make the cards? It was a fun card to make!

Cozy and Cuddly

For February 2014 Heart 2 Heart Challenge has a wonderful scrapbook challenge is Cozy and Cuddly challenge. I made my scrapbook page with a picture of Gina whippet and Blush whippet as the center of attention. I caught this picture one evening of them sleeping together on the couch. I used four different CTMH paper packs to have the scrapbook page appear to be a quilt. I always associate a quilt with something that is warm, cozy and cuddly! I have included a short PowerPoint presentation that shows various close up shots of this layout. Just click on Cuddly and Warm to view several close up shots. Please let me know what you think of the page and the close up details.

Heart 2 Heart —- Two Faced

This week at the Heart 2 Heart challenge the challenge is to use both sides of the patterned paper. I used CTMH Frosted paper to complete this project which uses both sides of the paper for the card and the Origami folded card that contains a tea bag. Please contact me if you would like to receive a card with Origami cup with a wonderful tea bag to enjoy on a cold winter night!

Heart 2 Heart – Something New

This week at the Heart 2 Heart challenge something new has to be included in your design! This was an excellent opportunity for me to try a new paper folding technique. The technique that I decided to use is a 2 piece fake iron cross fold. It is very easy to create an awesome card with the technique. On my card after I completed the iron cross fold, I included a corner bookmark in the inside! I illustrate this book mark on the CTMH catalog and idea book. This card was a lot of fun to make and used the CTMH WOTG Frosted Scrapbooking  Stamp Set. It is very common to see the iron cross built as a square format card. Square format mail bears a financial surcharge at the post office so I place the square on a standard size card to avoid the extra cost! Iron Crosses can be rectangular and I am going to experiment to find a format that  will not result in extra postage!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge, Color My Heart, and Scrapping Everyday Miracles Challenges

I made several card boxes with six cards, tea canisters filled with tea, and ring boxes with an infuser for folks for gift giving this season. This week at Heart 2 Heart and at Color My Heart is to use the CTMH Sprakle and Shine paper packet. I thought is was an opportunity to showcase the package of available gifts that several folks bought with this paper packet. The Scrapping Everyday Miracles challenge is looking for Christmas and this project has Christmas all over it! The gifts in this post were auctioned off on December 2, 2013 at a local Pandora jewelry store for an open house celebration that I was asked to exhibit my CTMH hand made gift items.

Heart 2 Heart – You’ve Been Framed

This week at Heart 2 Heart is titled You’ve Been Framed! I decided to take one of the new CTMH Home Decor frames and decorate it with CTMH Sarita Paper and use present and retired CTMH inspirational Bible verse stamps to make the individual sayings that are present on the frame! The verse in the middle is my favorite which is from Psalm 46:10 Be Still and Know that I Am God. As we begin the season of anticipation and celebration of a Happy Birthday to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I thought it was a nice framed piece to help in having a few quiet minutes every day to mediate on God’s Word. The first picture shows the overall framed piece. Each verse is stamped on CTMH Outdoor Denim and then framed with CTMH Sarita paper. I used several of the decorative stamps sets to place the decorate piece to the left of each individual verse. I trust the Lord will speak the truth to you today through this piece.
